FAQs & Fees

Questions, answered honestly.

Starting therapy comes with a lot of practical questions. Here are the ones I hear most, and if yours isn’t here, just ask.

What can I expect from a first session?+

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other with no pressure. We’ll talk about what brought you in, what you’re hoping for, and any questions you have about how I work. There’s no expectation to share more than feels comfortable, building trust comes first.

Do you offer in-person and online sessions?+

Yes. I see clients in person at the Amityville office and provide secure online therapy to anyone located in New York State. Many people do a blend of both depending on their week.

What are your rates?+

Session fees are discussed during our first conversation so we can find an arrangement that works for you. I’m happy to talk openly about fees, sliding-scale availability, and out-of-network reimbursement before you commit to anything.

Do you take insurance?+

I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that many clients submit to their insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. I’m glad to walk you through how to check your out-of-network benefits before we begin.

Who do you work with?+

I work with adults navigating complex trauma, emotion dysregulation, identity, and relationships, with particular care for LGBTQ+ folks who have experienced trauma. If we’re not the right fit, I’ll gladly help point you toward someone who is.

What does it mean that you practice under supervision?+

As an LMSW in New York, I provide psychotherapy under the clinical supervision of Jamie Svenson, LCSW, through Balanced Breath Psychotherapy. In practice, this means your care is supported by an experienced licensed clinician, an added layer of thoughtfulness behind our work together.

How do I get started?+

Reach out through the contact form or by email. We’ll set up a brief, free consultation to see whether we’re a good fit, answer your questions, and, if it feels right, schedule a first session.

Still have a question?

I’m always happy to talk it through before you decide anything.
